I need to erase alone from my vocabulary.
I am not alone.
I am single.
Alone erases my friends, my family, and my community.
It takes away all meaningful relationships and replaces them with despair.
It convinces me that I am incomplete.
It casts a false shadow that distorts all the light.
Single does not mean alone.
Single is a box I check on a government form.
It’s a descriptor.
It’s hopeful and bright.
It’s independent and brave.
It’s strong, and fun, and fierce.
It has options.
It’s complete.
I am single.
I am not alone.
